On 16th June, my husband Jack left home at 5.30am in the morning for his routine jog along one of the main roads near my house. I was awakened by numerous calls which I ignored at first but finally picked up at 6.18am to be told that my hubby was knocked down by a car.
I angrily told the caller off to not scam me as I have been hearing of these types of scams lately. After reasoning with the caller and receiving pictures of the accident from him, I went to my daughter’s room to break the tragic news and prayed together with her to surrender the matter to God. I went down on my knees, reminding God of His promises, His power, and His healing touch, insisting that He preserve Jack’s life.
God was right at work from the start of the accident. The caller who notified me of the accident was a witness who wasn’t meant to take that jogging route that morning but felt led to. He is a Christian who saw the entire accident, took photos as evidence and was praying for Jack the whole time. He managed to get my handphone number and home address from Jack before Jack passed out from the great impact.
I was told that Jack was hit from behind by a moving vehicle which did not have its car lamps turned on and that the driver was in a drowsy state. The impact of Jack’s body alone caused a huge dent on the front bonnet of the car and shattered the entire windscreen. As it was a moving car, Jack was catapulted 10 feet into the air before he was thrown down to the side of the tar road, missing the curb by just a few inches. Had he hit the curb, it would be disastrous causing brain concussion and possibly resulting in coma or fatality. It was as if angels protected him and caused him to land in the best way possible from the high impact of the knock. For that, Jack was spared of worse complications that could have happened.
I was told to go to the emergency ward in University Malaya Medical Centre immediately by the police. At the hospital, I received various hopeful reports – firstly by the chief neurosurgeon stating that there was no brain damage nor blood clot, and only slight bleeding which would clear up in due time. The orthopedic team was next to declare that he had no broken bones other than a minor neck fracture which would heal in a few weeks with a neck brace. The rest were external wounds which would heal over time.
It is so obvious that God’s hand of protection was and is upon Jack and how he got away with such minor and temporal injuries is a clear-cut miracle. God amazingly answered our prayers. He was discharged on the third day and could go home to rest and recuperate. Glory to God and we stand on His word that surely goodness and mercy will follow His people all the days of our lives! Lastly, I would like to thank the church leadership and members for their prayers and visitations. We felt very supported and touched during this ordeal and that FGT is really a church that we can call home.
