In my early Christian life, I had already been impressed upon that serving God is an expression of a person’s gratitude to the Lord’s saving grace and that prayer is the heartbeat of the Body of Christ. Since the day I first started attending a prayer meeting 28 years ago until today, I have never regretted making that my priority.
Of course there were many times that I did not feel like going to a prayer meeting for whatever reasons either valid or not; but I must say that I have never come out of a prayer meeting feeling “down”.
It was an unforgettable Friday prayer meeting in March 2000 for me and Gaik Suan when a brother prayed that “God can change things in a matter of days”. The words were like a rain of hope and an assurance from God into our hearts.
A few days after, God opened the door and I was offered a job thus ending a very trying period of 9 months of unemployment for me. God DOES answer prayers! To know FGT is to know the heartbeat of FGT; and the heartbeat of FGT is prayer; for prayer is the heartbeat of God.
